On Saturday there will be a peaceful nationwide, time-synchronized protest against the passage of California's Prop 8. That ballot initiative rescinded the right of same-gender couples in California to get married. It marks the first time in US history that voters amended a constitution to take rights away from a protected minority.
Here are details for the Corvallis protest:
Date: Saturday, Nov 15, 2008
Time: 10:30 AM to noon
Location: Benton County Courthouse, corner of 4th and Monroe
This is a demonstration, not a rally or march. Bring a sign, banner, rainbow flag, US flag, noisemaker, etc.
Please, no picket sticks thicker than 1/4 inch, and respect the flowerbeds and rose bushes at the courthouse.
