Pendulum Spinning Wheel
L.Wight patented wool wheel also known as a pendulum wheel was patented in 1856. It is a ‘sit-down’ walking wheel. By depressing the treadle with the foot the spinner is able to move the spindle away at a controlled rate and spin the wool. By releasing the treadle slowly the spun wool is wound on to the spindle without leaving the seat. The spinner still turns the wheel by hand. The function of the weight is to return the spindle toward the spinner.
Restored to working condition. Large and somewhat fragile so local pickup.
