Must see to appreciate. I welcome the opportunity to fully demonstrate this baby's capabilities. This SX-950 was restored earlier this year by a well-known tech in our area (see below for a list of work done). I also have all the parts that were replaced, and my tech is available to explain the extensive work that was done. I also had the subpar speaker inputs replaced with high-quality 5-way binding posts. Further, I will guarantee this for one full year from the date of purchase. If anything should go wrong after that year, I will work with you to our mutual satisfaction. This receiver is being offered at $1175.00 or best offer. NO TEXTS. I only answer email queries that include the sender's name and number. I also have two 70s Pioneer turntables: a Pioneer PL-12A that works great & a Pioneer PL-530 in good restorable condition.
Restoration Work :
Replacement of all electrolytic capacitors with high-quality Nichicon FG, KL, PW, ES, and Panasonic FC, FM, and FR series
Replacement of all tantalum capacitors with either electrolytic or film, depending on value.
Wima poly capacitors were used throughout the audio circuit.
Film bypass capacitors are used on the main rails
Replacement of all Zener diodes
Full bridge rectifiers rebuilt using ultra-fast diodes
Nearly every transistor in the power supply was replaced using better and more robust devices, and a new thermal compound was used.
All known trouble-making transistors were replaced. Many transistors throughout the audio circuit were replaced using low-noise devices & faster devices were used throughout the amplifier.
New output transistors using Onsemi MJ21195 and MJ21196
All controls cleaned using either Caig Deoxit D5, F5, D100 or F100 depending on the control
All new incandescent lamps were installed
All bias and offset trimmers were replaced with new Bourne trimmers
Relay rebuilt and contacts polished
Original substandard speaker posts were removed and replaced with custom high-quality USA 5-way binding posts.
Adjustments of power supply regulated voltage, output bias voltage, and DC offset.
48-hour minimum burn-in, power measurement, and measurement on the audio analyzer to measure THD, THD+N, and frequency linearity to confirm it met or exceeded factory spec
