Direct Support Professional
We are seeking a part-time personal assistant to support our daughter, a delightful 33-year-old woman who has Down syndrome. She is quite capable with fluent speech, reading & writing skills, good mobility, etc. She needs some assistance with activities of daily living, transportation & life skills mentoring. She is working to develop her skills in pursuit of a fulfilling life as an independent adult.
Responsibilities
*Educate AND support in areas of daily living: nutrition, exercise, transportation, safety, finances, housekeeping, & shopping
*Food procurement & preparation as a team
*Enhance community inclusion
* Support positive behaviors
* Use person centered and respectful language
* Plan and assist in community activities and social events with friends
* Keep accurate records & track progress
* Proactive planning & responsive communication with co-workers & parents
* Be kind, sincere, helpful, & dependable
* Collaborate well with co-workers & parents
Requirements
* Have strong organization, computer, verbal & written communication skills
* Be cooperative, flexible & willing to learn
* Demonstrate creative problem solving & a positive attitude
* Be at least 18 years-old
* Be available approximately 20-25 hours/week
Preferred Schedule:
Saturday 5:00 pm- 10:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Monday 3:00 pm - !0 :00 pm
Tuesday 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Wednesday – Friday - OFF
* Use a smart phone, computer & printer
* Have a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle & insurance
* Complete fingerprint & background checks performed by The State of Oregon
* Submit resume & three references
* Recognize that experience is good, but caring is better
* Complete provider application packet, interview & training with local Agency
Wage
* $22.00 per hour ~ plus ~
