Check out the link below to watch a video explaining what ‘ZeKe’s Drum Skool’ is, my approach to teaching drums, and some information about myself.
My name is Zachary ‘ZeKe’ Bauer and I am accepting new students at my Drum Skool for lessons, all levels and ages. No one is ever too young or old to learn the drums, just bring a positive, hard working attitude!
A little about me; I am a 27 year old Session Drummer currently performing with Portland hip-hop artist “Smokey Charles”. I have own and run “ZeKe’s Drum Skool” for the past 3 years teaching many different students of all ages and all skill levels and originally studied drums myself under Larry London. Over the past 5 years I have spent all of my time playing live with many local artists throughout Oregon, recording and writing drum parts from all different genres, and teaching handfuls of students while continually working to improve my craft each day.
All new students at ZeKe’s Drum Skool will have a full drummer’s curriculum (Great Start Drumset Series) available to them giving them all the tools necessary to be playing music as quickly as possible. My curriculum also puts a huge emphasis on teaching students how to write their owns drum parts whether they be drum grooves, fills, solos, etc. This will help the student bring out their own unique voice as a musician and an artist, something I feel is very important to each individual.
Students whom are not interested in jumping into a full drummers curriculum need not worry. I make sure to pertain each lesson to each individuals specific learning interests, goals, and needs; every drummer is different. Whether you want to start learning how to read, write and play drum grooves like a pro, need help getting ready for that school band audition or performance coming up, or just need help brushing up your favorite grooves, songs, or techniques, I am here to help.
My students will focus on:
(learning how to make the kit work for you, movement efficiency, stick grip, foot technique, posture, etc.).
-All different styles of music, their variations, and their similarities throughout genres.
-How to read sheet music and use a system created to learn how to write your own personal grooves, fills, and solos.
-Rudiments in both single surface and full drum set form.
-Hi-hat steppings and openings.
-Tom grooves and fills.
-Odd time and how to better understand odd time structure
-Song writing and song structure
-And of course:
How to have fun and express yourself musically in whichever way you desire
Feel free to call me with any questions about my rates, teaching style, my drumming journey, or to set up an initial lesson. I'm positive that I can help you improve your abilities on the drums in a fun, constructive, and efficient manner.
Keep practicing everybody!
