This is a beautiful tiger striped oak 1903 Kimball upright. It’s recently been tuned and plays fairly well. I’m told that these can be good candidates for restoration, depending on what someone is willing to spend.
The good:
Holds a tune
Kept in a climate controlled environment
All keys work and play
Big sound
The bad:
It’s mostly original, which means 123 year old leather, felt, wood, strings, etc.
There’s slop in the action and I’m told it’s due to worn parts.
Strings have some corrosion, which impact sound particularly in the bass notes.
One broken string at g/g#5. They still play and are in tune.
The ugly:
Probably 700-800+ lb., and in an old house with lots of steps. If you aren’t hiring professional movers, I’m willing to help get it out onto the street, but a time needs to be scheduled so I can make proper arrangements, including a telescoping forklift.
Price is negotiable, really just want it to go to a deserving home so it isn’t taken apart for scrap.
Available last week of March to assist getting it out of the house.
