Up for sale, a 2003 Tacoma Thunderchief acoustic electric bass, USA-made and professionally setup. One of the more celebrated modern acoustic bass designs, the Thunderchief delivers warm, pillowy, and thick low end without the hollowness or lack of oomph often found in an acoustic bass. It's a powerful instrument that plays effortlessly with a solid Sitka-spruce top, mahogany back and sides, upper-bass bout “paisley” soundhole, a bolt-on mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge, two-per-side tuners, and Fishman Prefix Plus electronics. The bass is featherweight at 6lbs.

The mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile with slight shoulders and original medium jumbo fretwire. The frets show light wear beneath the A and D strings from frets 1-5, with virtually no wear further up the board, retaining their full height and well rounded crowns. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width and the scale length is 34 1/4". On the headstock, the original tuning machines are intact and still work as intended, and one of the small caps that covers the E string gear is missing, yet doesn't affect functionality.

The body measures 17 3/4" wide at the lower bout, with a 4 5/8" body depth, delivering a tone that is as massive as the instrument itself. The rosewood bridge sits flush with the top with ample saddle height, and the satin finish shows minimal wear with some scuffing in the pick path and a couple marks on the headstock edges.
