Promote Strengthening Rural Families’ (SRF) mission, initiatives, services, programs and events. To engage with, advocate for, educate, and mobilize community members in our rural communities. Act as the primary person to organize and coordinate program events, recruitment and marketing, finding and negotiating use of facilities, working with agencies and collaborative partners, promoting volunteer opportunities, ensuring necessary supplies, meal preparation and childcare. Work 10-15 hours per week, depending on organization funding and/or activity level, 10-15 hours per week, depending on organization’s funding or activity level. Additional hours may be added with the approval of the Executive Director.
Job responsibilities include:
• Be a strong collaborative partner and advocate for children, families and individuals in our communities, providing programming and services in alignment with our mission and individual skills and experience.
• Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local families, school staff, libraries, community groups, local government, social service agencies, and churches that serve the local population in an outgoing, engaged and friendly manner.
• Recruit and maintain participants for programming. Limited evening and weekend work will be required. Communicate with instructors/facilitators to assure logistics are in place, including food and childcare. Work throughout to ensure programming is going smoothly and proper paperwork is being completed.
• Be responsible for class and program evaluations, and other information for grant reporting. Document hours worked, operate within budget and submit receipts for reimbursement.
• Recruit and supervise local childcare providers (paid and volunteer).
• Continually keep track of community needs related to maintaining healthy families. Conduct community assessments with the assistance of SRF staff and partners, as needed. Partner with community and coalition partners to connect families with community resources.
• Be available on regular basis to answer questions regarding SRF at local outreach and partner events, communicate with families that are registered for events (e.g. reminder calls), and participate in local events to increase community engagement.
• Participate in SRF Community Coordination Team, trainings, community, and coalition meetings.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by SRF Executive Director.
Job requirements:
Must have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work independently, and within a timeline
Have great time management and organizational skills, computer literacy, including proficiency at word processing, spreadsheets, data entry with attention to detail, and completion of tasks
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Active involvement in local community, with reliable transportation and proof of insurance
Must be able to pass a DHS criminal history check, have Oregon Food Handler’s and First Aid/CPR cards.
