This is an older printer in perfectly good condition and will work great for someone with an older Apple computer or someone more techie than I am. My computer is too far along in software updates to be compatible with it anymore. Although I was able to print something on it as recently as a a couple of months ago. I fooled and fooled with the options and got it to work. I no longer can.
Perhaps a PC type computer will work with it no problem. I know Drivers can be an issue, but Rufus, Amazon's AI Q&A option has multiple solutions that worked for others with Mac's so maybe there is one that will work for you. And if you know your way around these techie things, it may be simpatico.
If you go onto Amazon (pictures included) you will see a refurbished one sells for almost $200. And if you ask Rufus, it will give you a myriad of tech moves that it says many users have found to make the 1012 operate for them on a Mac. I feel like I got close but I just gave up. I got it to work but couldn't get it to be consistent. I just couldn't duplicate whatever I did. But it prints a test sheet just fine.
This printer is the definition of a work horse. I only used it all these years occasionally. It's never given me any trouble and knowing how things are built these days, mine will likely go on and on like the Energizer Bunny. The cartridge inside was replaced last year sometime and hardly used. Plus I have one replacement unopened as you can see in the pix. That's a lot of copies still to go :)
And by the way, HP likes to scare you into only using their cartridges. This 1012 will carry the 3rd Party ones with no issues. And they run for as little as $27, on Amazon.
I don't know what else to tell you other than I am happy to meet up with you to do the sale if you are interested. I hated to replace it but that's the way it is.
